Welcome to the 2012-2013 school year. I hope that you all had a restful and enjoyable summer. As we gear up for the new school year, I wanted to take this opportunity to bring you up to speed as to where your union is. Firstly, for those of you who don't know, we have a new address. It is: 3223 E. 31st St. Suite #101. We are just west of 31st and Harvard, and our phone number is the same (918.587.0886).
You also have a new Executive Board. Officers were elected on July 9th, 2012. We've been on board for a short time, but are settling into our duties with the assurance that you're right there with us. We have a couple of great people working in our office named Emily Wallace and Mike Osborn. Mike is our National Representative, and we are trying to ensure that you talk to a person when you call the office with a problem or just need some information.
During the school year, Emily will be out in the field, so a lot of you will be seeing her at your work sites. I'll be joining her at some of the sites. Regrettably, I won't be able to come to all the sites because I'm not in the union office full time yet. She is also the person responsible for our webpage being up and running. Call the office and thank her. Be sure to check the webpage for up to date information as to what's going on with your Union.
I know a lot of you are wondering when we will be getting a raise, as well as how much it will be. We are still in the process of negotiations. We are scheduled to go back to the negotiating table on August 22nd, 2012. Hopefully we'll have some news to pass onto you about that soon.
