Your Elections Committee counting and recording the ballots for the 2012 Executive Board election.
Last night, in Will Rogers High School auditorium, your Elections Committee held their breath as they picked up the very last ballot from the stack that you and your fellow members had mailed in. Julie Hale, Doug Franklin, and Suzanne Wagner sat in a row, methodically counting and recording each vote, while 20 other members gathered around, anxiously awaiting the outcome. At 7:30pm, when the last vote was counted and the results were announced, you could feel the buzz and excitement in the room.
A big "thank you" and congratulations to all the members who ran for office, as they were all qualified and dedicated leaders. This union is lucky to have such incredibly talented people who want to build and strengthen this local union, their commitment is truly unparalleled.
Additionally, this election wouldn't have been possible without your Elections Committee (Julie Hale, Suzanne Wagner, and Doug Franklin.) Their voluntary hard work and dedication showed last night as the ballot count came to a close. All of the late nights they gave up to plan and prepare for this election made last night such a big success. Their commitment to AFT 6049 made this election possible, and we all owe them a big "thank you."
